Year End Piano Recital

On a stormy night last week, the planned outdoor recital quickly became an indoor recital as chairs were swept up and brought inside before the tidal wave of strong winds threatened to blow us all over.  The result was an intimate and sweet finish to a year of weekly piano lessons for Isabelle and Isaac.

None of my photos turned out very well with the indoor lighting as it was, but at least you can see my kiddos performing their best along with several other talented kids.

I had promised Isabelle that she could choose between violin and piano when she turned ten.  My hope in having her play both instruments was to give her a head start and a strong understanding of theory.  This year she turned ten, and she has chosen to continue only with violin .... but only after assuring me "I'll play them both if you really want me to Mama!"
Smile.

Of course, I do really want her to -- but there are so few precious hours in a day and I don't want her investing any more of herself in something she isn't passionate about.  She finished well and learned much in formal lessons.  We hope to keep up her skills at home with some informal time regularly set aside to just play and enjoy.  And who knows ..... perhaps I'll take up with lessons where she left off?
