Absolute Gratitude

The shadows are long and the sunset breaking through the clouds is breathtaking tonight. I'm looking out to my backyard still wet with an early spring hailstorm and watching my two youngest playing. I'm gripped with absolute thankfulness. Thankfulness for the gift of life, of sight, of motherhood, of daily opportunities to love and laugh and live. As the kids and I leave to drive 8 hours tomorrow to attend the funeral of a dear friend's precious daughter who died unexpectedly of SIDS last Sunday, I am reminded to take time ... everyday, take time to live in gratitude for what was, what is, and what will be. Life is so fragile. We forget that, don't we? Every new day is a gift from God.
