Capstone Student Legislature 2009

What an amazing week we're having participating in the Cornerstone Family Coalition's 2009 Capstone Student Legislature. We walked in with trepidation, but Josiah is flourishing and loving this complete plunge into the world of state government and politics! Each student had several hours of prep work that they were to have completed upon arrival, including a personal bill which they had written, researched, and were prepared to defend on the legislative floor. We've been privileged to have retired Representative Bob Forrey as our speaker of the house and have now had an audience with several Senators and Representatives. Today, as a group, we met and toured the offices of the Idaho State Treasurer and Secretary of State. I'm not even sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow. I'm personally WAY over my head and completely intimidated, but not Josiah! He's completely at ease, has been the epitimy of decorum, and has behaved in such a fashion to make any mother proud. He's had opportunity to join in debates, sit in committees, and further expound his already deep understanding of the legislative process. Next year, as an alumni, he will have the privilege of meeting with the state's Governor as well as to sit in and learn more about appelate court. Who knows what God has in store! We're just taking advantage of this awesome opportunity right now and thanking the Lord for handling all the details to get us here.
