The barn will (hopefully!) be completed this week. Once the stalls, walls, and doors are all in, Joe can install the bathroom fixtures/appliances and we're in business!
Way up at the top of our pasture is a little orchard of sorts which we brought "under dominion" this weekend. Previously overgrown with limbs, grass, and weeds, it now looks much improved. It serves as a small oasis for my pasture walks around the perimeter of the pasture and also provides easy access to blooms and food for our bees which are just behind where I'm holding the camera. Now that Isabelle rides in the field weekly, it is also a nice shady spot to watch and encourage her as she gains new horsemanship skills.
For three years in a row we've had a robin return to this same nest and lay her eggs in this upper pasture Poplar tree. Last year Isabelle even had the privilege of watching one of the tiny chicks peck out of its egg :-)
Speaking of chicks, our February born pullets are doing very well. For the first time ever, we did not lose a single chick! As you can see, we've added the Polish variety to our flock so we can truly say that our chickens are "having a bad hair day"!
There are still several projects in the works, but we are definitely winding down as we approach graduation day! It will be here before we know it! Blessings all ...

We too have an ongoing family Scrabble game. Would love to have some recipes you are using for the crock pot. It is such a time saver!
