Happy Birthday Isabelle!

My sweet girl turned nine years old yesterday! It's hard to believe, but true. We began celebrating last weekend and enjoyed a full day on her birthday as well -- complete with number 9 homemade pancakes for breakfast!

It was an odd assortment of gifts this year as Isabelle is happiest with a stick, some mud, an animal or two and perhaps some thread and paint :-) Big brother Josiah gave her a new hat to wear (to match his) as they venture out to do the animal chores each morning. Isaac provided a new "sporty" outfit for when she and he play football together. Mom and Dad provided a new fish and some little fun things to nurture her creative side.

Nana sent a hoop skirt with overskirts -- a wonderful gift for this imaginative girl who spends a majority of her time wearing dress-up clothes. Thankfully, she always has a willing brother or Daddy to partner with her for a dance or jig.

We enjoyed a "tea party" of sorts at a local tea house complete with hats and precious friends whom we love to share time with. Making memories is my favorite part of motherhood ...

Isabelle chose to spend her birthday morning at the ice rink with friends -- where we enjoyed skating, hot chocolate, lunch, and homemade birthday cake together. We ended the day at Grandma and Grandpa's for her yearly celebration dinner where Isabelle was gifted with an heirloom sewing caddy filled with lace, ribbons, material, and buttons. She was in seventh heaven yesterday and will be occupied for days to come with her new supplies towards creativity. Happy birthday sweetheart!!
